Privacy notice
Last updated: 28 July 2026
This notice explains how Prince & Counsel Ltd collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our platform. It should be read alongside our terms of service and cookies policy.
01Who we are
Prince & Counsel Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates the Prince & Counsel platform, a marketplace connecting law firms with escrow and paying agent providers. We are the data controller responsible for your personal data. We are registered in England and Wales (company number 17357715), registered office 80 Ashton Road, Denton, Manchester, England, M34 3JF. For any data protection queries, contact us at privacy@princeandcounsel.co.uk.
02What data we collect
We collect: account and identity data (name, work email, firm name, role); mandate data you submit (transaction details, descriptions, and related information); usage data (how you interact with the platform); and communications data (messages, support requests, and call bookings).
03How we use your data
We process your data to: provide and operate the platform; route mandates to providers; facilitate quotes, comparisons and appointments; generate audit records; produce aggregated market intelligence; communicate with you; and meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
04Our lawful bases
We rely on: performance of a contract (to deliver the service you sign up for); legitimate interests (to operate, improve and secure the platform, and to produce aggregated insights); and legal obligation (where the law requires us to retain or disclose data).
05Who we share it with
When a law firm submits a mandate, the mandate details are shared with all active providers on the platform so they can respond with quotes. We also use trusted service providers (hosting, authentication, analytics) who process data on our behalf under contract. We do not sell your personal data.
06Aggregated and anonymised data
We produce market intelligence (such as fee benchmarks and response times) from platform activity. This is aggregated and anonymised so it does not identify individuals or specific transactions.
07International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as UK adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
08How long we keep it
We retain personal data for as long as your account is active and thereafter as needed to meet legal, regulatory and audit obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
09Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your data, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@princeandcounsel.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
10Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption, access controls, and authentication.
11Changes
We may update this notice from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you, and the "last updated" date above will reflect the latest version.
